Short Bio

Dr. Dimitrios Apostolopoulos was born in Athens, in April 1980. In 2004 he graduated from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), specialized in Telecommunications and Computer Networks. In 2009 he obtained his PhD from the Photonics Communication Research Laboratory (PCRL) of NTUA. His PhD thesis concerned the theoretical and experimental study of all-optical broadband systems for switching and buffering in packet networks. Dr. Apostolopoulos is the author or co- author of more than 100 publications in top of the line (IEEE, OSA) journals and presentations in the most prestigious and highly competitive optical fiber technology conferences, receiving more than 500 citations. He has co-organized several workshops and symposia in major conferences such as ECOC and has been actively involved in more than 10 EU and national funded projects. Dr. Apostolopoulos is a technical programme committee member of the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) and the International Conference on Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies (N&N) and the winner of the 2009 Dimitris N. Chorafas foundation award.
