Dr. Giannis Poulopoulos was born in Athens, in December 1989. In 2013 he graduated from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), specialized in Telecommunications and Computer Networks. His Diploma thesis concerned satellite free space optical links and comparative study with satellite links operating in millimeter radio frequency bands. In 2020, he obtained his PhD from the Photonics Communication Research Laboratory (PCRL) of NTUA. His PhD thesis concerned the design and development of SOI platform integrated circuits and optical interfaces for applications in optical communications networks. He has actively participated in several collaborative projects in FP7 (e.g. MIRAGE, PHOXTROT and SPIRIT), and H2020 (e.g. QAMeleon, and SEER). Dr. Poulopoulos is the author or co- author of more than 20 publications in journals and presentations in the most highly competitive optical fiber technology conferences.
