DR. LEFTERIS GOUNARIDIS
Short Bio
Dr. Lefteris Gounaridis is a research associate at the Photonics Communications Research Laboratory (PCRL) since 2013. He received his degree from the Physics Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2010 and obtained his PhD in 2021 from PCRL, working on the design and realization of photonic structures and control for interferometric hybridly integrated sensors for various applications like water composition monitoring, real‐time monitoring of food quality and monitoring of cancer biomarkers in blood samples. He is also actively involved in the development of MEMS-based FTIR spectroscopic portable sensors for chemical compounds detection with particular focus on the miniaturization and photonic integration of these systems and on novel photonic integration concepts for optical phased array systems. Lefteris has vigorously participated in various EU projects including the FP7 project ICT-BIOFOS and the H2020 projects ICT-BIOCDx, ICT-PICs4All, ICT-3PEAT, SU-SEC-aqua3S, SU-SEC-S4AllCities and ACTPHAST-4R. He has more than 20 publications in scientific journals and conferences.
